The National Institute For Sports (NIS) Tuesday, March, 26, 2024 formally admitted new set of students for the 2023/2024 academic session.
Administering the matriculation oath on the 270 students admitted to pursue various coaching and management courses in the only institute saddled with the responsibility of training coaches and sports administrators in the country, the Director General/ Chief Executive Officer of the institution Prof. Olawale Moronkola reminded the students that as they’re formally admitted into the NIS, they are not just joining an academic institution, they’re becoming part of a legacy of excellence, determination and resilience.
” As you are formally admitted into the NIS today, the part ahead maybe demanding but it’s also filled with the opportunity to grow, learn and excel. “You must have to embrace the challenges because it’s through them that you will discover your true potentials.
Prof. Moronkola while advising the new students to make judicious use of the facilities put in place by the management for conducive learning, noted that the curriculum of NIS has been meticulously designed to provide students with a holistic education that encompasses both the theoretical and practical aspects of sports.
” Our faculties comprises of esteemed professionals and former athletes who are committed in impacting their knowledge and experience to mould students into future leaders of sports and I know that our new intakes will benefit immensely from them.
” To our matriculating students, I urge you to take full advantage of the resources and facilities available to you but you must not lose sight of the fact that these facilities need to be used properly and with care.
” Engage with your peers and mentors , participate in extra curricular activities and immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of NIS but remember your time here will be what you make of it . So I encourage you to strive for excellence in every endeavor”, he concluded.
Highlight of the matriculation was the swearing in of the new Students Union Executives of the school.
