IMO ASSEMBLY ADOPTS EGU’S MOTION, COMMENDS GOVERNOR UZODIMMA FOR SECURING $1.5B INVESTMENT FROM AFREXIM BANK

In a recent development to compliment and appreciate Governor Hope Uzodimma’s leadership dexterity, the Imo State House of Assembly has commended the Governor for securing $1.5B Investment from the African Export-Import bank, AFREXIM bank, into Imo State for rapid economic growth.

Rt. Hon. Obinna Egu, Ph.D., Representing Ngor Okpala State Constituency while moving the motion titled “Motion to Commend the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma, CON, for Securing $1.5B Investments into Imo State through AFREXIM bank for rapid economic growth and Stability”, described Governor Hope Uzodimma as a deep thinker who always think outside the box to initiate programs that will deliver good governance to Imo people.

According to the Lawmaker, “the investment aims to spur economic growth, infrastructural development and job creation in Imo state and by extension the entire South East,”

He further stated that “Governor Hope Uzodimma’s goal is to accelerate the pace of development in Imo State and create opportunities for Imo people and its residents, hence partnering with AFREXIM bank unveils a unique opportunity to achieve this goal and unlock the full economic potential of Imo State.”

Hon. Egu maintained that “ the strategic meeting between the Imo State Governor, His Excellency Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma,CON, and AFREXIM bank underscores the importance of collaboration between government and financial institutions in driving inclusive economic growth and prosperity for Imo State .”

He extensively outlined several Areas of focus of the investment which includes:
1) Orashi River Dredging from Degema up to the Atlantic ocean.

2) An establishment of an Industrial Cluster which will house, A Petrochemical plant, Fertilizer plant, LNG plant and an oil Refinery. Etc.

3) Full Upgrade of Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport with night landing facility, also with an MoU already signed with a Turkish Airline to bring Istanbul to Owerri.

4) 24 hours Elctricity supply which is expected to be generated through natural Gas, as statistics shows that Imo has the highest Natural Gas reserve in the whole of Sub-Saharan West Africa. Etc.

He however prayed his colleagues to support the motion and be it resolved by the house, to Commend the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma,CON,for securing $1.5B investments into Imo State through AFREXIM bank for rapid economic growth and stability.

Other Honorable members, such as the Deputy Speaker of the House , Rt. Chyna Amara Iwuanyanwu, Majority Laeder, Rt. Hon. Kanayo Onyemaechi, Minority Leader, Hon. Princewill Amuchie,Hon. Henry Agbasonu of Ezinihitte Mbaise, Hon. Okechukwu Udeze of Ideato North, Hon. Chidiebere Ogbunikpa of Okigwe, Hon. Chisom Ojukwu of Nkwerre,Hon. Dominic Ezerioha of Oru West, Hon. Innocent Ikpamezie of Mbaitoli,Hon. Johnson Duru of Ideato South, Hon. Sam Osuji of Isiala Mbano, Hon. Kelechi Ofurum of Owerri North, Hon. Sam Otuibe of Ahiazu Mbaise, Hon. Chiedozie Nwosu of Oguta, Hon. Kennedy Ibeh of Obowo, Hon. Ikenna Ihezue of Orlu,Hon. Clinton Amadi of Owerri Municipal and Hon. Uche Agabige of Orsu In their separate remarks supported the motion.

The motion which was greeted with eulogies in the floor of the house was seconded by the Chief Whip and member Representing Oru East State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Chigozie Nwaneri and when the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe put the motion to question, the I’s had it.
