NLO Warns On Registration Discrepancies, Age Falsification For U-19 Youth League
The Nationwide League One has warned clubs in the U-19 Youth League of tough sanctions if found wanting for registration discrepancies and age falsification, as it remains dedicated to maintaining a transparent and professional platform for genuine talent discovery.
Ahead of the new season, the NLO Secretariat received concerning documents submitted by some clubs that lack sportsmanship, prompting it to reaffirm its zero-tolerance policy on administrative fraud, especially regarding player documents and age falsification.
To preserve the integrity of the developmental league, it has implored a Rigorous Verification process. All players’ registration data, including birth certificates, NIN, and previous club passports, will be thoroughly validated.
Any club caught submitting inconsistent, forged, or fraudulent documents will be reported directly to the Nigeria Football Federation Ethics and Integrity Committee for appropriate sanctions.
The penalties for violators will not only be immediate disqualification from the league but also severe sanctions by the NFF, which may include long-term bans from all football activities and substantial fines.
It is essential to eradicate fraud and age cheating from Nigerian football. The U-19 League aims for authentic youth development; any rule circumvention compromises the integrity of the NLO and endangers the future of Nigerian football.
