Sporting Lagos Captain Solomon Uloko has said that the extension of the Betpawa Locker Room Bonus from the Nigeria National League (NNL) regular season to the Super 4 Playoff has brought smiles to their faces.
The innovative incentive introduced at the beginning of this season by the league body led by George Aluo in partnership with Betpawa, has played a crucial motivation for teams to be more competitive.
A winning team comprising 20 players and five officials is guaranteed a sum of 56,000 naira as their individual accounts are credited instantly after the game.
For Uloko whose team won their second match at the Remo Stars Stadium, venue of the season-ending tournament, it has been an extended period of happiness.
“I’m so happy,” he expressed at the post-match presser after he was voted as the Man-Of-The/-Match.
“When you win a game and you go back to the locker room”, he continued, “you check your phone and you see your bonuses, there will be smile on your face”, he confirmed.
The energetic captain guided the Conference B winners to 1-0 victory over Ranchers Bees of Kaduna in their opening fixture on Monday before he grabbed two goals in their 4-0 demolition of Doma United of Gombe on Wednesday night on Match Day Two.
Their back-to-back victory in Ikenne came on the background of Sporting Lagos’ consistency in the regular season where they earned consecutive wins even on very difficult grounds.
The “Noisy Lagosians” now occupy the top of the Super 4 table with six points with a five goal difference ahead of second-placed Inter Lagos who have 3 points, same as Doma United.
Ranchers Bees stay at the base with no point.
