National Para Games: Oyo Aquatic boss, Akande lauds state’s athletes for dominating swimming events

The Chairman of the Aquatic Association of Oyo, Dr. Akande Kazeem Babatunde has expressed joy over the sterling performance of the para athletes that represented Oyo State in the on-going second edition of the National Para Games in Abuja.
Ayomide Adeleye, James Believe, Regina Friday Johnson and Akorede Moses who represented ‘Team Oyo’ swept most of the medals in the Para-Swimming, returning with one gold, eight silver and three bronze medals to dominate the table.
Dr. Akande, an astute businessman, humanitarian and philanthropist who has just been elevated to the position of Chairman of Aquatic Association of Oyo State has pledged to host the athletes upon their return and compensate them for making the investment of the Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde worthwhile.
Meanwhile, the Head of Coaches in the Oyo State Sports Council, Adeyinka Olotu who accompanied the para swimmers to the games has thanked the Oyo Aquatic boss for his constant support to the development of the water sports, especially towards their successful outing in the Abuja game where they won 12 medals.
“I want to use this opportunity to thank our loving and kind Chairman of Aquatics Association of Oyo State, Dr Akande Kazeem for all his support, both physically and financially towards the success of this Para Game in Abuja, we love and appreciate you always sir,” said Coach Adeyinka Olotu while speaking with newsmen from Oyo camp in Abuja.
Oyo State Para athletes featured in para-cycling, para-athletics, para-swimming, para-canoeing, para-karate, para-powerlifting, para-table tennis, wheelchair basketball, and wheelchair tennis.
