NRA announces pre-season workshop for referees and assistant referees
The Nigeria Referees Association (NRA) has announced it’s annual pre-season seminar for assessors, referees and assistant referees ahead of the commencement of the 2026/2027 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
The workshop, organised by the NFF Referees Development Unit, is designed to sharpen the officiating standards, fitness levels and technical knowledge of match officials in preparation for the new NPFL campaign.
In a statement signed by the Secretary of the Referees Development Unit, Nasiru Ibrahim, the NRA confirmed that the seminar will be held at the main bowl of the MKO Abiola National Stadium and the FIFA Goal Project, Package B between Saturday, 15th – Saturday, 29th August. Sessions will run daily from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Assessors will have their classwork on Saturday, 15th and Sunday, 16th August, 2026, while the first group of referees and assistant referees will arrive and conduct their medical tests on Monday, 17th August. Fitness test for them is set for Tuesday, 18th August, while classwork, practicals and test come up on Wednesday, 19th and Thursday, 20th August.
The second group of referees and assistant referees will arrive and have their medical tests on Friday, 21st August, with fitness test fixed for Saturday, 22nd August.
Classwork, practicals & test will take place on Saturday, 22nd and Sunday, 23rd August.
The third group of referees and assistant referees will arrive and have their medical tests on Monday, 24th August with fitness test
scheduled for Tuesday, 25th August. Classwork,
practicals and tests hold on Wednesday, 26 August and Friday, 28th August.
