Oguntuase makes case for local coaches, says he’s ready to handle Super Eagles

Ex- international, Jide Oguntuase has advised the leadership of Nigeria Football Federation to stop wasting money hiring foreign coaches saying; that the country have enough experienced coaches that can handle the various national teams.
In an exclusive interview with newstap.com.ng he explained that some of the foreign coaches hired by the football house are not better than their Nigerian counterparts and that instead of going for another foreign technical adviser after the expiration of the contract of Portuguese Jose Paseiro, Nigerian coaches should be engaged and provided with enough incentive to enable them perform.
” I’ve taken a critical look at the performance of the foreign coaches and discovered that they are not better than Nigerian coaches but only come here to make money. We have coaches like my humble self, Finidi George, Fatai Amao and others who can take the Super Eagles to greater height.
” Most of these foreign coaches are not serious neither are they ready to work. They depend only on foreign based professionals without minding the level of football they play in those countries and they hardly give home based players a chance which is negatively affecting our football development.
” The question everyone should ask the NFF is why is it that foreign coaches have contracts while their Nigerian assistants do not sign any contract with the football house and that was why they decided to drop Finidi George and Ike Shorounmu from the AFCON qualifiers against Guinea- Bissau not minding they’re owing them salaries and allowances and no coach will put in his best under such condition.
” When you look at what Senegal is doing presently in African football, you’ll discover that all their national teams are been handled by Senegalese and their football house gave them all the necessary support to succeed and that’s what I want to see happen in Nigeria.
“It’s also on record that Egypt depends solely on their home based players with few foreign professionals in their national team which was made possible because Egyptians handle their national team and it’s only when we believe in our coaches that the fortune of the Super Eagles will be turned around”, he stressed.
Oguntuase who is now a coach believes that if given the chance to handle any of the national teams, he won’t disappoint as he has what it takes to get good results.
” I’m not trying to blow my trumpet but all I can assure you is that I have what it takes to handle any of the national teams and if given the opportunity, I won’t fail”, he concluded.
