Ohaji/Egbema workers thumbs up Local Government services Commission’s leadership

Following the recent directive, by Dr. Nick Obinatu, the Chairman Imo State Local Government Services Commission, that Local Government workers in the State should be holding regular monthly meetings as a strategic means of enhancing the council areas administration, the workers of Ohaji Egbema LGA have thumbed up the Commission’s leadership for being sensitive and proactive in addressing efforts aimed at strengthening Local Government administrations in the State.

The workers said this last Tuesday at Mmahu, the Council’s Headquarter during their well attended maiden but crucial meeting as directed by the Commission’s leadership and presided over by Prince John Kennedy Ogwuegbu, the Council’s Director of Administration and General Services(DAGS) Covering Duty (CD).

The workers also applauded Hon.Prince Marcel Amadioha, the Council’s Executive Chairman for his administration’s concerns on workers welfare and transformation of the council area, while reassuring of their commitments in serving the council area diligently.

Addressing the workers, Prince John Kennedy Ogwuegbu, the Council’s Director of Administration and General Services(DAGS) Covering Duty (CD) expressed gratitude to the Commission for the introduction of the monthly meeting aimed at enhancing communication, restoring confidence, hope and unity of purpose among workers as well as boosting the activities of the council area.

Ogwuegbu reiterated the need for the workers to ask questions wherever they are in doubt and to ensure 100% cleanliness of the Council’s Secretariat noting that, “cleanliness is next to Godliness”.

He also advised them on the need for punctuality and regular attendance to work as well as improved social capital from enhanced and meaningful networking relationship.

While commending Governor Hope Uzodimma for upward review of workers salary and compassion to workers plight in the State, the Director of Administration and General Services(DAGS) Covering Duty (CD) frowned against absenteeism, truancy and indiscipline among the work force.

Ogwuegbu recalled that the Chairman of the Local Government Services Commission, Dr. Nick Obinatu, retired as a Treasurer in the Local Government system and that the strategic monthly meeting between the staff and management of Local Government Areas in the state he instituted is borne out of his experience and patriotic desires to reposition the State’s Local Government workforce to be in tandem with the 21st century demands.

In her contributions, Mrs. Rose Ejiekwe, the Council’s Treasurer also commended the workers for their attendance and advised on the need for dedication and patriotism to work.

Ejiekwe also expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Commission and the Council for being workers friendly and enjoined them not to relent.

The workers in their various contributions were overwhelmed with joy for the institution of the monthly meeting and it’s subsequent outcomes and assured of their willingness to adhere to directives, advises and resolutions.

They described the leadership of the council and the commission as visionary, purposeful and patriotic in uplifting the Council’s administration and encouraged unity of purpose among workers.

They also passionately advised the Commission and the Council’s leadership not to relent in their focused and determined vision of strengthening the State local government areas administration, with an improved workers welfare.
