Okowa Congratulates Team Nigeria on Outstanding Performance at CAA Region 2 Championships

Senior Vice President of the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA), President of CAA Region 2, and President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Chief Tonobok Okowa, has congratulated Team Nigeria’s junior athletes for their outstanding performance at the just-concluded CAA Region 2 U-18/U-20 Athletics Championships in Dakar, Senegal.

Chief Okowa praised the athletes for their determination, discipline, and resilience, describing their performance as a clear indication of the bright future of athletics in Nigeria.

Team Nigeria concluded the championship with an impressive medal haul of 23 medals, comprising 15 gold, 7 silver, and 1 bronze, finishing as one of the standout nations at the competition.

The AFN President commended the coaches, technical officials, and support staff for their dedication and commitment to the success of the team, noting that the achievements recorded in Dakar are the result of hard work, proper planning, and teamwork.

He urged the young athletes to remain focused, continue to work hard, and strive for greater accomplishments as they prepare to represent Nigeria on bigger international stages.

Chief Okowa also expressed appreciation to the Federal Government, the National Sports Commission, and all stakeholders for their continued support towards the development of athletics in the country, reaffirming the Athletics Federation of Nigeria’s commitment to nurturing young talents capable of winning laurels for the nation.
