Omorodion to lead Three-Man Lagos SWAN Caretaker Committee

The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has constituted a three-man Lagos SWAN Caretaker Committee with a mandate to restore stability and initiate a credible electoral process.
The committee, which has a three-month mandate, is headed by Patrick Omorodion of Vanguard newspaper, with Oni Afolabi of Sure FM serving as Secretary and Anulika Menanya of the Voice of Nigeria as a member.
In a letter dated October 11 and signed by SWAN National Secretary Ikenna Okonkwo, their appointments take immediate effect.
According to SWAN National President Isaiah Benjamin, “This appointment recognises Omorodion’s experience and capacity to provide steady leadership during a critical period for the Lagos State chapter.”
The committee has also been tasked with recovering, securing and documenting all Lagos SWAN assets. In addition to uniting members of the chapter, it is expected to collaborate with the National Secretariat to verify and update the membership register for electoral purposes.
Other responsibilities include facilitating the establishment of the Lagos State SWAN Electoral Committee (SWANECO) in accordance with SWAN statutes, coordinating preparations for a free and fair election, and engaging stakeholders to build confidence and ensure a peaceful transition.
Benjamin urged the committee to diligently discharge its responsibilities fairly as he assured them of the total support of National SWAN.
