Oshodi Faults IJF Over Nigeria Judo Crisis, Vows Stakeholders’ Meeting
..NJF president describes international body’s position as a bad omen for sports administration worldwide

The President of the Nigeria Judo Federation (NJF), Dr. Musa Oshodi, has expressed displeasure over the position taken by the International Judo Federation (IJF) on the administrative crisis rocking the Nigerian federation.
Oshodi’s reaction follows a letter dated October 9, 2026, in which the IJF acknowledged the dissolution of the NJF board and the establishment of a caretaker committee, while expressing support for efforts to ensure a transparent, fair and inclusive electoral process.
In the letter addressed to the Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade, the IJF acknowledged the caretaker committee’s mandate to amend the NJF Constitution and convene an elective General Assembly.
The international body also noted that members of the caretaker committee had undertaken not to contest in the forthcoming elections.
However, the development has not gone down well with Oshodi, who questioned the implications of the IJF’s position for sports administration globally.
“The letter and stand of IJF is a bad omen for the administration of the sport world wide,” Oshodi said.
The NJF president further disclosed that he would meet with stakeholders to examine the situation and determine the next line of action.
He did not provide further details about the proposed meeting or the specific measures being considered.
The latest development adds another dimension to the controversy surrounding the leadership of Nigerian judo, with the status of the federation’s board and the proposed caretaker arrangement at the centre of the dispute.
While the IJF has expressed support for efforts to address the governance concerns and facilitate a credible electoral process, Oshodi’s reaction signals continued disagreement over the international body’s position.
The outcome of the planned stakeholders’ meeting could provide further clarity on the federation’s next steps as the dispute continues to unfold.
