Osun Election : INEC Ad Hoc Job Applicants Protest Alleged Exclusion After Training
Applicants who registered through the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal for the Osun State governorship election in Orolu Local Government Area, Ifon-Osun, have protested their alleged exclusion from the recruitment of ad hoc staff despite completing mandatory training and passing a written test that they wrote at Roman Catholic Mission School, Ifon-Osun.
The applicants said they were invited for a three-day mandatory training after registering on the INEC portal.
According to them, they subsequently completed the required documentation, including signing vouchers on which they provided their bank account details for the payment of training allowances.
One of the affected applicants said, “After we registered on the INEC portal, we received a message to come for the training. We had the training and signed some vouchers where we were directed to put our account numbers, but till now, we have not received the training allowance, and our names were not shortlisted for the ad hoc job exercise.”
The applicants also questioned the composition of the list of shortlisted candidates released for the exercise, alleging that only a few indigenes of the community were included.
“Out of about 100 names released, the names of indigenes who applied do not make up to five. What we saw were funny names that do not belong to this community, nor did they undergo training with us,” said one of the affected applicants, who requested anonymity.
The aggrieved applicants are calling on INEC and other relevant authorities to investigate the alleged irregularities in the recruitment process and address their concerns over their exclusion and unpaid training allowances.
