Impressed by his years of humanitarian services, philanthropy and community development initiatives, the Okpu Mbaise Global Association has bestowed on Chief Success Obioma Akagburuonye the prestigious position of Patron of the revered socio-cultural organisation.
The honour was conferred recently during the group’s courtesy visit to Akagburuonye at his palatial ancestral home in Ogbor Uvuru, Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.
The delegation was led by Prof. Mrs. Genevieve Agulana, who represented the President of the association, Dr. Mrs. Tessy Okere, whose absence was said to be unavoidable.
Speaking on behalf of the association, Okere described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of Akagburuonye’s outstanding humanitarian, philanthropic and community development exploits over the years.
She particularly commended his contributions towards the empowerment of women and youths through skills acquisition and other intervention programmes, urging him not to relent in his efforts to uplift humanity and communities.
The association also expressed its readiness to support, encourage and work closely with Akagburuonye in his various humanitarian and developmental endeavours.
Responding, Akagburuonye, who is the National Coordinator of the Hope Rising for Imolites Foundation, a socio-political group popularly known with the slogan as Olile Anya Di, expressed profound appreciation to the leadership and entire membership of the Okpu Mbaise Global Association for finding him worthy of the honour and position.
The philanthropist, fondly called Akaraugo Ndigbo, urged members of the association to sustain their laudable initiatives and remain focused on the achievements of their mission, core values and goals.
Despite his busy schedule and preparations for the burial of his late mother, Ezinne Nwafo Amuchie Akagburuonye, who died at the age of 105, Akagburuonye said he considered it necessary to personally receive the delegation as a mark of his deep respect for womanhood and the association.
He further advised members to embrace unity of purpose and shun character assassination and actions capable of causing division among them.
Akagburuonye re-assured the association of his willingness to support its humanitarian and developmental programmes, stressing that collective effort, unity and genuine service to humanity remain indispensable to the progress of Mbaise and society at large.
The Patronship, observers noted, came on the heels of the numerous humanitarian, philanthropic and community development interventions of Engr. Dr Obioma Success Akagburuonye, Esq., across Imo State and Nigeria at large.
