Powerblink Independence Day Football Tournament Ends In Lagos

The 2nd Edition of the Powerblink
Independence Day Football Tournament was successfully held on 1st October, 2026
with 9 teams participating out of a total of 15 teams that were invited.

The tournament featured three categories: U-7, U-10, and U-13.


Teams that participated in the tournament, includes; Powerblink FC,
Noble 5Star FA, Ultimate SA, Pivotal FA, Panthers FA and Top FC.

Others are; OnyeBall FA, Addington FA
and Soccer Talent FA while the five invited teams that couldn’t make it are;
Tickko FC, Murich FA, Papa FA, Sector FA
and Future Talent FA

At the end of hostilities, Ultimate SA defeated OnyeBall FA by 6-5 penalties after their game ended 0-0 at regulation time to be crowned champions of the U-7 category.

In the U-10 category, OnyeBall FA
emerged champions after beating 2 Panthers FA by 2-1 penalties after their game ended 2-2.

The U-13 category was won by OnyeBall FA after recording a slim 1 – 0 victory over Ultimate SA

Speaking on the tournament, the organizer, Coach Elijah Opetunde Ajayi popularly known as ‘Coach Jah’ who also doubles as Head Coach, Powerblink Football Club & Academy expressed happiness that the tournament was a huge success with 9 active teams and competitive matches across all categories.

He appreciated all the teams, coaches, parents, and officials who made it possible for the event to hold and specially congratulated OnyeBall FA for winning two categories and Ultimate SA for the U-7 title, noting that they look forward to a bigger and better 3rd Edition.

Meanwhile, Coach Ajayi on behalf of himself and Poerblink Football Club and Academy has sent a letter of appreciation to all those that made the tournament possible.

The letter reads, “On behalf of Powerblink Football Club and Academy, I, Coach Elijah Opetunde Ajayi (Coach Jah), extend my sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the 2nd Edition of the Powerblink Independence Day Tournament.


“Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the Baale of Kajola Town, Ibeju-Lekki, and his family for honouring our invitation, standing behind our vision, and supporting our efforts to create opportunities for young footballers. Your presence and encouragement meant a great deal to us.

“We sincerely appreciate the representatives of Eti-Osa, Ibeju-Lekki, Epe, EDFA, and LSFA for their presence, encouragement, and continued commitment to grassroots football development. Your support strengthens the work being done to identify, develop, and nurture young talents.

“Special recognition goes to Green Lunar Nigeria Limited and Mars Properties – Buy, Rent & Sell for their generous sponsorship and partnership.

“Your contributions helped us organize this tournament and provide a platform for young players to showcase their abilities. We deeply value your investment in youth football.

“To the over 80 parents and family members who entrusted their children to us and came out to cheer them on, we are truly grateful.

“Your trust, presence, and encouragement gave the young players the confidence to compete, learn, and enjoy the game. Thank you for standing with us in the development of your children”, he said

He also appreciated all the coaches who brought their players to participate in the tournament; saying that they recognize their dedication, commitment, and countless hours of training.

“Beyond teaching football skills, you continue to instil discipline, teamwork, respect, and determination in these young players. Your contribution to their development goes far beyond the football pitch.

Coach Ajayi, also have good words for all the 15 academies that participated in this year’s tournament, namely :

He thanked them for bringing their teams, embracing the competition, and giving the young players an opportunity to demonstrate their skills, discipline, and teamwork.

And to the teams that had to withdraw and the clubs that could not participate, he appreciated their interest and the efforts they made to be part of this year’s edition and look forward to future opportunities to work together.

This year’s tournament recorded a remarkable turnout, with over 472 young players participating and more than 80 parents, fans, and supporters in attendance.

The level of participation, commitment, and support demonstrated the growing impact of grassroots football in our community.

In keeping with the philosophy of Powerblink Football Club and Academy, that every child deserves to be recognized for their effort, commitment, and participation, all participants received awards, ensuring that no player was left behind.

The medals according to the organizer, is in keeping with his vision that every young footballer has something to celebrate and take home as a reminder of their hard work and involvement in the tournament.

” We made sure every player in the U-7, U-10, and U-13 categories have medals to take home in recognition of their participation and efforts. Our aim was to make every child feel valued, appreciated, and encouraged to continue developing their football skills.

“For us, the success of this tournament was not measured by trophies alone but also by the smiles, confidence, and lasting memories created for every child who took part” he concluded

In a related development, the management of RadialSports Venture has sent a letter of appreciation to Coach Ajayi A K A Coach Jah for making use of their facilities.


The letter noted that they’re happy to support his 2nd Edition Independence Day Tournament and to provide their facility for the development of grassroots football.

“Seeing over 280 young players and over 50 parents and supporters gather to celebrate talent was a joy for us, and we are glad we could contribute to the success of the day.

“We also commend you and your team for the proper maintenance of the facility during and after the event. Your professionalism and commitment to youth development in Ibeju-Lekki are truly commendable.

“We congratulate you on a successful tournament and look forward to continued partnership with Powerblink Football Club & Academy in future programs and reassure you that our facility
remains open to support your noble vision” concludes the letter.
