Preye Oseke Unity Cup good for Ijaw youth -Egbe

The Preye Oseke Unity Cup has been described as a tournament which is good for Ijaw youth.
This is the position of Ebi Egbe, the Bayelsa born Chief Executive Officer of Monimichelle whose outfit is supporting the grassroots tournament.
It would be noted that the inaugural edition of the Preye Oseke Unity Tournament got underway on Sunday with Ward Eleven (Amassoma) defeating Ward Four (Olodioma) 5-3 on penalties after regulation time ended without producing a winner.
A cast of dignitaries comprising political office holders from the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party, Traditional rulers, Opinion Leaders and others graced the opening ceremony watched by an impressive crowd.
Initiator of the Competition and Member, Representing Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Preye Influence Oseke said the tournament was intended to provide a platform to unite the people irrespective of political and other affiliations.
While thanking the youths of the area for embracing the championship, he urged them to shun violence during elections and politics, but rather allow the democratic process to take its course for development to thrive.
Hon. Oseke who thanked Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State for his peaceful disposition since his assumption of office, stated that the competition was an opportunity to unearth young talents from the area to stardom.
Declaring the competition open, Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Council, Hon. Kia Nigeria who chaired the occasion, said the presence of some officials of the State government was indicative of the unity in the area.
Captain of Ward Eleven, Amassoma, Edwin Ebipade Gagede expressed delight with the victory over Ward 4, Olodioma in the opening match which he described as a tough encounter.
With the successful kick off of the tournament, action has since continues across four centers in Amassoma, Oporoma, Ekowe, and Olugbobiri with 17 wards playing in four groups while the final will take place in Ogboinbiri on December 30, 2021.
