Basketball: Alice Gombwer blow out Adamawa Lions to win NBBF Totalenergies Savannah Conference Division 2 League

Alice Gombwer Basketball Academy have secured promotion into the NBBF TotalEnergies Division 1 League after winning the Savannah Conference Division 2 League final decided on Tuesday in Abuja.

Alice Gombwer Basketball Academy from Kaduna State defeated Adamawa Lions in a one sided final by 64 to 38. They dominated the final from start to finish 12-12, 17-05, 21-10 and 14-14.

Gombwer did not drop a game throughout the Savannah Conference Division 2 League finals.

Solid Heats of Nasarawa State defeated ABU Zaira of Kaduna State to claim the third spot 80-72.

The Chairman of the NBBF TotalEnergies Division 2 League Management Committee, Honourable Abba Abdulquadri Kaka, is very excited with the near perfect run of the Savannah Conference.

“The clubs, players and officials were satisfied with the handling of the Savannah Conference finals and we hope to make the Atlantic Conference finals in Port Harcourt equally exciting and even much more better.” Kaka stated.

“We move the Atlantic Conference finals from its Lagos traditional home to Port Harcourt, Rivers State in order to spread the gospel of the slamming and dunking game across the country. And as you know Port Harcourt is a city passionate about basketball.” He added.

Attention now shifts to the garden city for the Atlantic Conference Division 2 League finals which is expected to tip off on Saturday with six clubs in attendance.

All eyes will be on High Flyers Basketball Club of Benin, Favour of Arena Basketball Club of Port Hacourt and Books N Ball of Osogbo when the Atlantic Conference finals tip off in Port Harcourt.

The students from Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Anambra State Basketball Club and Raptors Academy of Lagos will also want to leave their skin on the court come the Conference finals with the hope of gaining a place in the NBBF TotalEnergies Division 1 League.

Proprietor and Coach of Books N Ball, Taiwo Ajibola Eleniyan, is confident that his team will win the Atlantic Conference finals. Already, Books N Ball have started their preparation for the Conference finals.

“I am happy we won the South West NBBF TotalEnergies Division 2 Play off in Osogbo, we are looking forward to the Atlantic Conference finals and a win is within our reach.” Coach Eleniyan stated.
