Purity Praises Adeniyi as Nigeria Begins Camping Ahead of World Wrestling Championship
The Chairman of the Technical Committee of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF), Akuh Purity, has commended the President of the Federation, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, for approving closed-door camping for Nigerian wrestlers ahead of the World Wrestling Championships taking place in Astana, Kazakhstan from October 24 to November 1, 2026.
Purity, who also serves as the head coach of the Nigerian women’s wrestling team, said the decision to commence intensive camping underscores the NWF leadership’s commitment to providing the athletes with the necessary preparation and support to compete effectively at the global championship.
The camping programme, which will be held at two designated venues in Bayelsa and Ondo States, is expected to provide the wrestlers with an opportunity to intensify their training and sharpen their technical and tactical preparations.
According to Purity, the closed-door arrangement will allow the athletes and their coaches to maintain maximum concentration as they work towards peak performance ahead of the World Championships.
He praised Adeniyi for his keen interest in the development of wrestling and for prioritising the welfare and preparation of Team Nigeria’s athletes ahead of major international competitions.
Purity noted that adequate preparation remains critical to the performance of athletes at the highest level, stressing that “the camping exercise would further strengthen the wrestlers physically, technically and mentally.”
He also acknowledged “the support extended to foreign-based Nigerian wrestlers, who have already benefited from pre-tournament camping and other preparatory arrangements ahead of the championship.”
He said, “Such initiatives demonstrated Adeniyi’s commitment to ensuring that Nigerian wrestlers, both home-based and foreign-based, receive the necessary support to compete on the international stage.”
