PWA Set To Inaugurate Professional Wrestling In Ghana

Pro Wrestling Africa (PWA) has announced plans to officially inaugurate professional wrestling activities in the Gold Coast nation of Ghana on Monday, July 20th, 2026 marking another significant milestone in the organization’s mission to expand and strengthen professional wrestling across the African continent.
The inauguration will bring together wrestling stakeholders, sports administrators, athletes, coaches, and invited dignitaries to witness the launch of a new chapter in Ghana’s sporting landscape.
The event is expected to lay the foundation for the structured development of professional wrestling through athlete training, coaching education, referee development, and the organization of local and international championships.
Pro Wrestling Africa (PWA) is a continental professional wrestling organization dedicated to the promotion, development, and expansion of professional wrestling throughout Africa.
Through championships, training programmes, talent development initiatives, and international partnerships, PWA is working to position Africa as a respected force in the global professional wrestling industry.
Speaking ahead of the inauguration, Olusesan Olukoya, Secretary General of Pro Wrestling Africa (PWA), described the initiative as a major step toward creating sustainable opportunities for young Africans through professional wrestling.
“The inauguration of professional wrestling in Ghana reflects PWA’s unwavering commitment to expanding the sport across Africa. Ghana possesses tremendous sporting talent, and we are confident that this initiative will provide young athletes with new opportunities to develop their skills, compete internationally, and build successful careers in professional wrestling.”
According to Olukoya, PWA will work closely with wrestling stakeholders in Ghana headed by Ms. Christiana Naa Merley Ashley and her team to establish a sustainable framework that includes the formation of clubs, coaching and referee certification programmes, youth development initiatives, and annual wrestling championships where De Miser (Samson Okpara) has been representing Ghana and training other young talents .
The organization also plans to facilitate international partnerships, talent exchange programmes, and training camps to ensure that Ghanaian wrestlers have access to world-class technical expertise and opportunities for international competition.
Congolese born world class rated coach of appreciable repute, “Shaolin Master” Msimba Bafuka based in Brussels in Belgium who runs the Brussels Young Wrestling Style (BYWS) would be attending the timely inauguration as he has promised to visit Accra, Ghana from time to time to train the country’s talents.
The inauguration forms part of PWA’s broader vision of establishing vibrant professional wrestling structures across Africa while promoting youth empowerment, sports tourism, cultural exchange, and economic opportunities through sport.
Pro Wrestling Africa reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with governments, educational institutions, traditional authorities, corporate organizations, and international wrestling bodies to accelerate the growth of professional wrestling throughout the continent.
The event is expected to attract sports enthusiasts, media representatives, and supporters of professional wrestling from Ghana and neighbouring countries, underscoring the growing interest in the sport across Africa.
