Sallah: Dudu-Orumen felicitates with Edo athletes, others
As Nigerian Muslims celebrate the Eid-el Kabir festival, Godwin Dudu-Orumen Esq., the Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission (ESSC), has charged Nigerians, Edo State athletes and staff of the Edo State Sports Commission to see in the celebration, a moment for reflection on the need for love, peace and harmony in the country.
In a statement on Friday signed by Nnamdi Okosieme, his Special Adviser on Media and Communications, the ESSC boss said the overriding concern of every Nigerian today should be on how to ensure that the pervasive climate of intolerance, hate and bigotry is turned around to usher in the needed peace and unity, which he said, are two indispensable ingredients for national growth and development.
“If Islam preaches peace then its adherents must be peace lovers. Eid-el Kabir should be occasion to spread love, a moment to reach out across religious divides to form a bond of friendship and brotherhood. I urge you to use this occasion to reflect on the virtues of Prophet Mohammed, imbibe them and live them out not only for the greater glory of your faith but also as building blocks for national cohesion,” Dudu-Orumen stated.
He called on Edo State athletes and staff of the Edo State Sports Commission to use the occasion presented by the festivity to renew their dedication and commitment to service of Edo State.
