Striking Heartland players shun Imo FA Cup match as opponent secures walk over

The woes of Heartland FC has continued unabated as the players refused to honor today’s Imo FA Cup game against non league side Amanda FC.

Amanda after waiting for Heartland to show up at the Owerri Township Stadium for the game to no avail were awarded the game by the centre referee.

Competent camp sources disclosed that the players said they were not going to play on empty stomach.

The players and their officials are being owed four months salary alongside other allowances.

It is not yet clear if the players who have refused to train for some days now would be in Makurdi to play an equally troubled Lobi Stars in the NPFL this weekend.

A source further disclosed that most of the regulars may feign injury as a way of avoiding the trip.

Heartland are in the relegation zone of NPFL log and only a miracle would see the team not going down.
