CANA Zone 2 meet: Team Nigeria swim in medals

Team Nigeria has ended the CANA Zone 2 Senior Swimming Championship which was concluded today in Dakar, Senegal on a brilliant note.

Team Nigeria finished second behind host Senegal winning five gold, 12 silver and four bronze medals.

Nigeria’s quest for laurels was spearheaded by Timipamere Akiayefa who broke her former record of 50m Backstroke finishing first in the process.

Scribe of Nigeria swimming federation, Sanni Mohammed was full of praise for the Nigerian swimmers declaring that they displayed a wonderful fighting spirit all through.

Collins Obi won the100 freestyle,  gold medal, while Evelyn Nmor, also won gold medal in the 200m breaststroke. Nbeke Williams secured bronze medal in 100m breaststroke.

The team is due back in the country tomorrow.
