SWAN FCT Chapter Gets Caretaker Committee

The National leadership of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has appointed a three-man Caretaker Committee to spearhead its Federal Capital Territory Chapter for a period of three months.
Those appointed as contained in an official letter by the Secretary-General of SWAN, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, include Mr. Edwin Akwueh as Chairman, Ms. Tamara Ebiwei – Secretary and Mr. Linus T. Hagher – Member.
Part of the letter titled, “Appointment Of Caretaker Committee For SWAN FCT Chapter’, reads, “Sequel to the dissolution of its EXCO by the FCT Congress on June 19, communicated to SWAN National Secretariat on June 23, 2026, the National Executive Committee of SWAN led by the President, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, has approved constitution of a three-man Caretaker Committee for FCT Chapter.
“And you have been appointed as part of the committee to serve within a stipulated period of three months.
“Within this period, it is expected that the Caretaker Committee, alongside the Congress set up SWAN Electoral Committee (SWANECO) to conduct election to elect a substantive Executive Committee for the chapter.
“This appointment takes immediate effect.
“Already, the former Exco has been directed to immediately hand over all property belonging to the Association in its possession to the Caretaker Committee.”
“This is to ensure continuous smooth running of the Association’s activities without any hindrance whatsoever,” the statement quoted part of another letter addressed to Mr. Kelechi Onwudiwe, the immediate past SWAN FCT Chapter Chairman.
The SWAN President also appreciated Onwudiwe and the former executive committee members for their efforts while wishing them well in future endeavours.
The statement stated that the SWAN President further charged the caretaker Chairman and other members of the Committee to bring their wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of their service to the Association.
