SWAN National Congress: Imo Chapter Hails Benjamin’s Re-election, Celebrates Asika, Nwante

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Imo State Chapter, has congratulated Comrade Isaiah Kemje Benjamin on his re-election as National President of the Association following the successful conclusion of the 2026 SWAN Triennial National Delegates Congress held in Kaduna.
The Imo chapter also felicitated with Ikemefuna Asika on his emergence as Vice President, South East Zone, and Ijeoma Nwante, who was elected National Financial Secretary.
In a congratulatory message signed by the chapter’s Secretary, Tunde Liadi, Imo SWAN Chairman, Cosmos Chukwuemeka, described the successful congress and elections as another significant milestone in the continued strengthening and development of the Association.
Chukwuemeka said Benjamin’s re-election offers him another opportunity to consolidate the achievements recorded during his first tenure, particularly in the areas of members’ welfare, professional development, unity and the strengthening of state chapters.
He urged the SWAN President to sustain an inclusive administration while deepening relationships with relevant sports bodies and other stakeholders for the overall benefit of members and the growth of sports journalism in Nigeria.
The Imo SWAN Chairman also congratulated Asika on his emergence as Vice President of the South East Zone, describing the position as an important responsibility to foster greater cooperation and unity among SWAN chapters in the region.
He charged Asika to work closely with the five South East state chapters, listen to their concerns and ensure that the region remains united, coordinated and adequately represented at the national level.
Chukwuemeka equally congratulated Nwante on her election as National Financial Secretary, urging her to bring transparency, accountability, diligence and professionalism to the management and documentation of the Association’s finances.
He wished the newly elected national and zonal officers a successful and impactful tenure, while assuring them of the continued support and cooperation of the Imo State Chapter.
