Go Round continue their promotion chase in Ikom

Go Round FC will continue their chase for a position in the Nigeria Professional Football League with a game in Ikom this midweek.

The team has already departed Omoku and will be hoping for a result on the road.

“We are determined that we will be in the NPFL so we will continue working to make sure we achieve our aim,” Go Round FC coach, Ngozi Elechi said just before departure.

Top of the table Go Round FC will slug it out with Calabar Rovers who are fourth on the log.

In this same fixture last season, Go Round FC won 2-1 and will be looking at getting a similar result.

Meanwhile, coach of Bayelsa United, Diepreye Teibowei was in shock after his side lost 2-1 to Go Round FC at the Krisdera Hotel Stadium in Omoku last Sunday.

Go Round FC had gone ahead in the first half through a simple tap in from Victor Wohuruche in the 40th minute.

Martins Favour’s dipping shot in the 80th minute beat the goalkeeper to draw level for the away side, before Onyedikachi Ugwu’s header in the 89th minute ensured a win and his 5th goal of the season.

“I can’t explain it,” Teibowei said after the game.

“Even from the beginning, you can see that the boys played well, got their chances but the goals did not come.”

“It was bizarre. I can’t explain it,” Diepreye Tebowei.

Go Round FC coach, Ngozi Elechi described Ugwu as a fantastic striker.

“What a fantastic striker he is,” Elechi said.

“He has shown that his experience in the team is counting. It was a fantastic goal and it is just amazing what I have seen from the young lads.

“We have determined that we will be in the NPFL. We will continue working to make sure that we achieve our aim,” Elechi said.
