Team Nigeria Archers Excel in Oran, Algeria. Wins 1 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze.

Nigeria at the weekend, put up a commanding performance to win 1 gold, 5 Silver, and 1 bronze to claim a total of six medals at the just concluded African Archery Championship in Oran, Algeria to register her best International performance in Archery Sports.

This impressive display or skills just a few months after the country’s brilliant outing at the last Continental Championship In Cote, D’ Ivoire, has not only solidified Nigeria’s growing rise in the game of Archery globally but has once again proven that the country is indeed a force to be reckoned with in Archery sport.

Kitted by SBS which sponsored both the Jerseys and tracksuits of team Nigeria for the Oran championship, the President of the Nigeria Archer Federation ( NAFED ) His Royal highest, Mohammed Baba Abdullahi, has commended SBS for sponsoring team Jersey and tracksuit for the championship and prayed that the sponsorship should not be one-off thing but a partnership that should be sustained going forward.

The President equally gave kudos to the athletes whom he described as “accurate shooters ” for making Nigeria proud at the championship.

To keep the record straight, Nigeria six medals were won in Men’s team Barebow, women’s team Barebow, Mixed team Barebow, women’s individual Barebow, Compound men team event, Compound Women’s Individual and Mixed team Compound Bow event.

Accounting for the women’s team Barebow Gold medal are,
Faith Adekogbe, Etiedung Monday and Precious Fanny Amun, while Obasa Abdulraheem, Abdlasot Sanni and Usman Abubakar were responsible for the Barebow Men’s team Silver medal.

Mixed team Silver medal was won by
the duo of Usman Abubakar and Faith Adekogbe..

Again Faith Adekogbe won the women’s individual Barebow silver while Aliyu Abubakar, Damilola Batholomew, Sholademi and Emmanuel Oyeleke, combined to win the silver in the men’s team Compound event.

The combination of Evans Haareke and Emmanuel Oyeleke won the Mixed team Compound Bow Silver medal while Evans Haareke accounted for the only bronze medal won in the women’s individual Compound event.

The leader of delegation, HRH, Alhaji Mohammed Baba Abdullahi will leave Oran today, while the Vice President, Ambassador Augustine Chigbolu and other members of team are expected to depart tomorrow due to flight connections
