Team Nigeria dominates International Para Table Tennis Championship in Cardiff

President of the Paralympic Committee of Nigeria, PCN, Sunday Odebode, has attributed the Country’s success at the just concluded ITTF International Para Table Tennis open Championship in Cardiff to the support and motivation from the National Sports Commission, (NSC).
Team Nigeria athletes dominated the Cardiff championship with a commanding display to win a total of 3 Gold medals, 2 silver and 1 bronze medal to boost Nigeria’s qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Games in the United States.
The PCN President said the NSC made it possible for Nigeria to attend the tournament in Cardiff by making funding and other logistics available for the team.
“Our focus is to ensure that our players gather enough points by attending these important international tournaments and the NSC have continued to be our major backbone”.
“This is not me just trying to shower encomiums on the NSC and the leadership of Mallam Shehu and Hon. Bukola Olopade, but we have never had it this good when it comes to prompt and technical support from the Commission”.
The Nigerian team will now head to France for the ITTF World Para Elite Championship where over 35 countries are expected to feature.
The France tournament is another important pathway towards qualification for the World championship and the Paralympic Games in 2028.
