By George Aluo

A Catholic priest, Rev Fr Patrick Oparamanuike has charged Christians to ensure they put Jesus Christ first this festive season insisting that there is no Christmas without Jesus.

Fr Oparamanuike who is the parish priest of St Micheal’s Umuohiagu in Ngor Okpala local government area of Imo spoke while delivering his Christmas Day homily.

The man of God said it is sad to hear people talk about happy holidays and sending out Christmas greetings without the image of Jesus who is the reason for the season.

“There is no Christmas without Jesus. Jesus is the reason for the season and should not be relegated to the background,” Oparamanuike said.

He charged Christians to live a life that would bring peace to the society declaring that Christ brought peace to the world.

He stressed that whoever is a true believer in Christ must work for peace rather than being an agent of confusion and trouble.

He was quick to add that no society would make progress and develop without peace.

He also cautioned the youths not to fall into the temptation of chasing wealth at all cost as that is the way of death and destruction.

“Christmas is a time we must all emulate Jesus who is the reason for the season.”

Fr Oparamanuike also charged his parishioners not to sell their PVC but vote a God fearing leader who would guarantee their future and the future of their children.
