FA Cup: It’s Chelsea, Arsenal final

By George Aluo

A comprehensive victory! That was what Chelsea recorded against Manchester United in Sunday night’s FA Cup second semi final tie at Wembley.

The Blues who dominated from start to finish won 3-1 to set up what promises to be a thrilling final against Arsenal on August 1.

Arsenal had in the first semi final beaten defending champions, Manchester City by 2-0. With the two Manchester teams out, this year’s final would be an all London affair.

Oliver Giroud opened scoring for Chelsea in the 45th minute, only for Mount to beat David De Gea with a powerful shot in the 46th minute. Harry Maguire scored an own goal in 74th minute to literally confirm Chelsea’s victory.

A late effort by Man United in the 84th minute when Fernandez scored from the spot was not enough as Man United bowed out of the tournament. The encounter was one in which Man U’s Nigerian forward Odion Ighalo tasted action for only 10 minutes as he was brought on, with the market almost over with buyers and sellers already going home.
