NANS chieftain, Olalere mourns Akeredolu, describes him as students friendly governor

The Senate President of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Comrade Olalere Benedict Adetunji has described the death of Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu the Governor of Ondo State as a huge loss to Nigerian students, describing him as one of student’s’ friendly Governor in Nigeria.
Olalere in a statement issued and made available to newsmen described the late Governor as a Man who always comes out boldly to speak on behalf of his people
“The Amotekun General has gone, what a loss to Southwest and Nigeria,” he fumed.
“NANS commiserates with Ondo State and the entire students in Ondo State for this great loss and we pray that Almighty God will grant his family and the entire Ondo State the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
The governor, aged 67, died on Wednesday morning after a prolonged illness.
Akeredolu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), ex-president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and ex-Attorney General of Ondo State, was a second-term governor before his death.
Meanwhile, the Ondo State Government has declared a three-day period of mourning in honour of the late Akeredolu as Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa also ordered national flags to be flown at half-mast across the state.
“This period of mourning, with fasting and prayer, takes effect from Thursday, December 28 to Saturday, December 30, 2023. Also, all national flags are to be flown at half-mast in reflection of the mood of the State for seven days”, said the new governor.
