Women’s Basketball Team Thank First Bank, Target FIBA Africa Spot

First Bank women’s basketball team has expressed gratitude to its management for its unwavering support during the 2026 Zenith Bank Women’s Basketball Championship.
The ‘Elephant Girls’ narrowly lost to Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) team in the finals of the 2026 Zenith Bank Women’s Basketball National Final 8 last Saturday, with a close score of 66-64 after overtime.
The thrilling game was fiercely contested at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
With an automatic berth to represent Nigeria at the FIBA Africa Zone 3 qualifiers later this year, the ‘Elephant Girls’ are ready to make a strong showing at the continental level.
First Bank, aiming for a record 10th championship, came just two points short of MFM.
They have been a well-known name in the NBBF for over three decades and have significantly contributed to the development of basketball in Nigeria and Africa, consistently representing Nigeria on the African stage each season.
However, the FirstBank management has been sponsoring the team for years- more than enough.
