Abia State African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate Doris Ogala has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos.
The Court also postponed its ruling on her bail application until Nov. 6.
She is facing a three-count charge bordering on alleged cyberstalking, cyberbullying and attempted extortion involving Lagos-based cleric, Pastor Chris Okafor.
Ogala had earlier pleaded not guilty to the charges filed against her by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation.
During the initial proceedings, prosecution counsel, Tolulope Mokolu, accused the actress of publishing intimate photographs of Okafor on her social media accounts without his consent between September 2024 and March 2026.
The prosecution also alleged that she circulated videos, recordings and electronic messages containing false information intended to harass, intimidate and damage the pastor’s reputation.
Another allegation against Ogala involved threats to release additional intimate and damaging materials unless Okafor compensated her or bought her a house.
Her lawyer, Marshal Abubakar, had opposed her continued detention and urged the court to grant her bail, assuring that she would be available for subsequent proceedings.Check Voting Info
However, Justice Aluko ordered her remand after ruling that the defence had not provided sufficient grounds for her immediate release.
The court also directed an accelerated hearing of the bail application.
At Friday’s sitting, the prosecution reportedly urged the court to impose strict conditions if bail was granted.
These included restrictions on contacting witnesses and making social media publications capable of interfering with the proceedings.Read Local News
The judge subsequently reserved his ruling on the bail application until November 6, leaving the actress in custody pending the decision.
