Bayelsa FA local council election: Aspirants call for cancellation over irregularities

Chairmanship Aspirants for the eight Local Council Football Association Election in Bayelsa State have described the purported exercise held on Friday 28 April as a charade.
The Aspirants in a signed petition addressed to the Electoral Body cited the lack of transparency of the entire process.
Mr Ebiakpo James Chairmanship Aspirants for Sagbama local government noted the clear violation of Article 320(4) which states that before an election can be conducted, the electoral guidelines will be provided for the Aspirants at least 4-7 days to the date of the election. And that he was given the delegates list less than 24 hours to the election.
On his part, Mr Pereowei Friday Chairmanship Aspirants for Southern Ijaw Football Association stated that whereas he was given delegates list without phone numbers on the morning of the election. Whereas the electoral guidelines stipulates that campaign should end 24 hours to election.
Mr Yakiah Paul Chairmanship Aspirant for Yenagoa Football Association decried the manner of the electoral body bypassing the guidelines as an afront on the sensitivity of the Football family in the State.
Mr Godwin Abadi, a Football Stakeholder in the State wondered how election into various Local Government would be conducted under such circumstances as the guidelines were fragrantly disobeyed insisting that such should not be allowed to stand.
The Aspirants however called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to cancel this sham of an election and order for fresh election.
