The All Progressives Congress, APC, and the rival African Democratic Congress, have successfully concluded their party primary elections with Rt. Hon. Obinna Egu and Chief Kingsley Odionyemma emerging the flag bearers of APC and ADC respectively for Ngor Okpala state constituency election in 2027.
Egu and Odionyemma emerged standard bearers of their respective parties held Thursday at Ngor Okpala having been returned unopposed since they had no challengers in the intraparty contest.
Obinna Egu, was adopted as a consensus candidate following the withdrawal of Hon. Chidi Ekeh and Chief Jeff Nwachukwu from the race before the party nomination exercise could take place.
Odionyemma on his part, emerged House Assembly candidate of ADC having no other aspirant to face in the contest and members of the party ratified his nomination by unanimous vote of confidence during the exercise held at the LGA party office.
In his acceptance/appreciation speech, Hon. Egu, who is serving out his second term in the Imo State House of Assembly thanked Almighty God, Governor Hope Uzodimma and the Ngor Okpala APC family for his emergence.
His words, “I begin by thanking Almighty God on whose power and grace it was made possible for me to emerge today as the flag bearer of our great party for the 2027 House of Assembly Election in Ngor Okpala State Constituency. To Him alone be all the glory for this victory.
“I extend my profound gratitude to the Leader of our Party and the Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, for his unwavering support, exemplary leadership, and constant encouragement. I also thank our State Party Chairman, Chief Austin Onyedebelu, for his steadfast commitment to party unity and progress.
“My sincere appreciation goes to the APC family across the 11 wards of Ngor Okpala, the LGA Executives, Zonal and State Executives, and all the leaders of our party in Ngor Okpala who are too numerous to mention individually. Your mobilization, sacrifices, and belief in this cause made this outcome possible.
To the other aspirants, he said , “my brothers with whom I contested the primaries. Your participation enriched the process and demonstrated the strength of our internal democracy. I urge you to remain steadfast in our shared vision, as this victory is for all of us.
“I assure you that the trust you have reposed in me will be justified through diligence, integrity, and service to our people. As we prepare for the general elections, I humbly seek your continued support, unity, and active engagement. Together, we will consolidate our gains and secure victory for the APC in Ngor Okpala.”
In a similar vein, Kingsley Odionyemma expressed gratitude to Ngor Okpala chapter of ADC for their trust and confidence in him which resulted in his victory.
He promised to work hard in order to ensure ADC’s victory in the coming general election in February 2027 and pleaded with every member of the party to join hands with him in bringing victory to the party for him alone cannot win the election.
“We will show Ngor Okpala people reasons that voting for us is not about party, power, money or leaders who is working with us, but is about quality representative and quality leadership to bring peace to the people of Ngor Okpala,” he said.
