Late Ngor Okpala journalists’ scribe, Henry Amadi laid to rest

It was a sombre moment of sorrow, wailing and sober reflection as the remains of late Comrade Henry Amadi, the immediate past secretary of Association of Ngor Okpala Journalists, ANOJ, was laid to rest in his hometown, Amapu Village in Alatia Community of Ngor Okpala LGA, Imo State.
Amadi aged 55years, a father of three, who died on Thursday 5th March, 2026; until his untimely demise was the Editor of Christian Light Newspaper, a weekly tabloid published by the Anglican Diocese of Egbu and the Press Officer of.the Diocese.
As the remains of the deceased was lowered into the grave, a thunderous loud cry and wailing of his children, family members, relatives, friends, colleagues and teeming sympathizers erupted in the air disrupting the solemn graveside ministration by the clergy, choir and other faithful.
Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Egbu, His Lordship, Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Enyinnaya Okoroafor, in his admonition at the burial, charged Christians to always be prepared for the call to eternal glory since death can strike any time.
The prelate prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul and wellbeing of the three children, his aged mother and other members of the family he left behind.
“Henry was a diligent and humble member of the Anglican Communion in our Diocese and his home church. We definitely will miss him but our consolation is that he died a dedicated Christian. He was the Editor of our diocesan publication, and did very well there,” he said.
In his sermon earlier during the requiem church service, the Parish Priest of Covenant Anglican Parish Amala,Pastor Samuel Ahaotu, lamented the exit of Mr. Henry at a young age describing his death as a grave loss to the family, church and the larger society.
He consoled the family and prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed and fortitude to enable the family bear the huge loss.
The priest admonished the children to remain focused and consolidate on the legacies of their father by remaining faithful and prayerful Christians and fervently devote themselves to the things of God.
In a tribute, Henry’s eldest child and first son, Master Divine Ekwonye Amadi, on behalf of his two sisters thanked his father’s siblings, friends, classmates and professional colleagues for standing with them during the trying times.
While lamenting the untimely demise of his father, Divine prayed for the repose of his soul promising to always support his little ones.
Members of Association of Ngor Okpala Journalists, ANOJ, led by the chairman, Comrade Athan Agbakwuru, consoled the children and family over the loss and urged them to trust in God for lasting consolation.
