Chairman of the Nigeria Premier Football League Gbenga Elegbeleye has carried out an inspection on the Inspire Stadium in Lagos ahead of the new campaign season.
With three Lagos-based clubs now confirmed to campaign in the forthcoming season, exploring other venues became expedient after only Mobolaji Johnson Arena hosted NPFL and Nigeria National League matches last season.
The NPFL Chairman in the company of officials of Ikorodu City, Sporting Lagos and Inter Lagos as well as the Lagos State Football Association inspected the Inspire Academy Stadium, Oshodi as a potential venue for their home matches.
“I visited the NITEL football grounds(now Inspire Stadium) at Oshodi Lagos in company of Godwin Enakhena of Sporting Lagos, Gabriel Adigwe of Inter Lagos and Sanmi Doherty of Ikorodu City and officials of the Lagos state Football Association. Next will be Agege stadium. The aim is to inspect available facilities in Lagos to compliment the Mobolaji Johnson stadium since we now have three clubs in Lagos playing in the Premier League from next season,” he said.
Both Sporting Lagos and Inter Lagos gained promotion to the elite division after winning their respective conferences in the NNL.
They will be joined Doma United and Ranchers Bees in the premier division.
