NFSC congratulates Osimhen, Oshoala, Nnadozie for winning African football honours

The long wait of 24 years, finally came over as Nigeria and Napoli’s star, Victor James Osimhen, was overwhelmingly voted as the Best African Footballer Of the Year for 2023, alongside Asisat Oshoala, who won a record-extending sixth title as the best African female footballer as well as Chiamaka Nnadozie who won the inaugural Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year Award, to solidify her position as the best goalkeeper in Africa.
In a swift reaction to the exciting news, National Chairman of Nigeria and Africa’s foremost football fans group, the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Ambassador (Rev). Samuel Ikpea, congratulated the Nigerian trio of Osimhen, Oshoala and Nnadozie for making Nigerians proud. 
“We’re celebrating the well-deserved honours bestowed on our players, as the best male and female African players. We’re happy and all Nigerians, home and in diaspora are, indeed very happy.”
“We’re not surprised that Asisat Oshoala won a record sixth title as the best African female footballer. It’s shows her consistency, hardwork, discipline and undying passion for the game. It’s indeed, a big one for her and lovers of football,” Ikpea stated. 
“It’s a long wait of 24 years, since Mercy Akide and Nwankwo Kanu, both won the honours, on the same stage in 1999.  Significantly, Osimhen has broken the jinx, and it’s a big honour and recognition for Nigerian football.”
Ikpea went on to reveal that NFSC is planning big to storm Morocco next year, for the African Women’s Football Championship, as well as, other venues to support the various Nigerian national teams to victory.
