APC Chieftain, Okechukwu Asks Ribadu To Advise Tinubu To Rejig Economic Policies

A foundation member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Osita Okechukwu on Sunday called on the National Security Adviser, NSA, Nuhu Ribadu, to appeal to President Bola Tinubu to “rejig” his economic policies.

Okechukwu said Tinubu would improve living standards, stimulate production, expand employment opportunities and alleviate the hardship of Nigerians if his economic policies are restructured.

In a statement he signed, the former Director General of the Voice of Nigeria, VON, said: “Ribadu, as one of the closest presidential advisers, appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rejig his economic programmes to improve living standards, stimulate production, expand employment opportunities and alleviate the hardship confronting ordinary Nigerians.”

Okechukwu said economic insecurity, widespread hardship and unemployment can undermine community trust and create conditions that criminal networks exploit to recruit vulnerable youths.

He maintained that restoring livelihoods, strengthening rural economies and creating productive opportunities for young people must go hand in hand with security operations if the country is to achieve lasting peace.

The APC chieftain noted that a broader understanding of national security must inform the federal government’s economic and political policies if Nigeria is to achieve sustainable peace.

“For example the less than transparent contract award process is the obstruction of the good intentions of Mr President to complete the Coastal Highway,” he added.
