Kanu, Ekwueme lead ex-internationals to fight Covid-19

The battle against Covid-19 in Imo State was stepped up on Friday when former Super Eagles captain Nwankwo Kanu and Ifeanyi Ekwueme led other ex-internationals to raise public awareness via a road show.
The ex internationals who walked through the streets of Owerri wore face masks even as they charged residents of the city to do the same and carry out all the other health protocols reeled out by government and health authorities.
Former Enyimba forward, Chibuzor Ozurumba who helped the People’s Elephants to win the CAF Champions League back to back in 2003 and 2004 told newstap.com.ng that the road show was their little way of saving lives.
“Many people don’t appear to believe in the first place that Covid-19 is real. This is why we took to the streets to sensitize them. We went out with face masks and hand sanitizers to sanitize those we met on the streets and advised them to always do the same and follow all the anti Covid -19 protocols. Covid-19 is here in Imo and our desire is to help government flatten the curve. We don’t want the disease to kill our people,” Ozurumba said.
