Breaking! Lagos Doctors Begin Indefinite Strike
Doctors in the employment of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, (LASUTH) Ikeja, have embarked on an indefinite strike this Friday.
The action according to investigation was triggered by disagreement with the state government on poor welfare conditions.
In June, the Resident Doctors activated a 3-day warning strike after their demands were not met.
Their latest action has already begun to generate it’s effect.
Many patients who arrived the facility for their appointments were seen wearing long faces after being informed on doctors’ absence, knowing implications it would have on their well-being.
An elderly who was on a wheelchair and had planned to see a Neurologist during the clinic at the Medical Department was seen muttering to herself having travelled from a far distance to attend her clinic.
Her mood appeared to be the reflection of hundreds of people who had arrived the foremost facility for health care but were disappointed.
It’s left to be seen if the Lagos State government will attend to their request promptly to avoid unnecessary human disaster in the health sector.
