Niger Delta Games: Aye Declares Bayelsa Ready For Edo Challenge

The Bayelsa State Director of Sports, Mr. Andrew Aye, has declared that Team Bayelsa is fully prepared for the second edition of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Games scheduled to take place in Edo State.

Aye made this known during the screening process of athletes, while assessing the state’s level of preparation ahead of the Games, expressing confidence in the readiness of the athletes and their coaches following weeks of intensive training.

According to him, the hard work and commitment shown by the technical crew and athletes cannot be overlooked, as it reflects the team’s determination to compete strongly at the games.

“The coaches have worked so hard, and the athletes too.

You can’t take that away from them. They have shown that they are ready and capable. We are ready and good to go,” Aye said.

Reacting to questions about Bayelsa’s chances of defending its title after topping the medal table in the maiden edition of the Games, the Director of Sports admitted that retaining a championship is often more challenging than winning it.

“Winning a championship is easy, but maintaining or defending that title is the real deal. Everyone knows Bayelsa is not just participating; we are competing, so we are ready,” he added.

Team Bayelsa will be aiming for another impressive outing when the Games commence in Edo State, with expectations high following their dominant performance in the first edition.
