A new players body known as the All Nigerian Players Union (ANPU) with the Moto: “We Are Strong With One Voice”, was unveiled in Lagos on Sunday.

The event which took place at White House Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, had in attendance former top Nigerian football stars.

They include, Chikelue Iloenyosi, Monday Odiaka, Julius Aghahowa, Alfred Akpato, Mr. Sam Otis and Mrs Shola Otis, Jackson Orji, Onyi Temple, Mathias Enebeli and a host of others.

Speaking after the unveiling, a leading member of the group, Chikelue Iloenyosi, said the aim of the union is to help correct the anomalies which Nigerian players (whether active or retired) have been facing in the past years.

Iloenyosi, who added that the union will also help to checkmate the excesses of some associations parading themselves as having the interest of Nigerian players without concrete evidence to show for it, enjoined Nigerians to embrace the new order which ANPU is bringing on board, calling for total support in the task of securing the future of Nigerian players.

Ex international, Julius Aghahowa who also spoke at the unveiling of the new body said ANPU’s formation is a breath of fresh air, even as he added that the nation’s footballers are on the verge of getting it right after over three decades of chasing shadows.

Meanwhile, the full list of the APNU Exco will be announced early this week going by the hints dropped by the promoters of the new players body.
