Akande Celebrates Shettima at 60, Commends his Contributions to National Development

Dr. Akande Kazeem Babatunde, mni, Chairman of the Governing Council of the African Institute for Justices of the Peace and Rector of the Western Coast Maritime Academy (WECMA), has congratulated Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, on his 60th birthday.
In a goodwill message issued on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, Akande described Shettima’s journey in public service as one marked by “intellectual depth, courage, resilience, loyalty and dedicated public service,” noting his contributions to national development, strategic governance, peace, security and human capital development.
Akande, who identified himself as a proud member of the National Institute family, also commended the Vice President’s commitment to the ideals of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), particularly the promotion of knowledge-driven governance and national development.
He joined Shettima’s family, friends, colleagues and well-wishers in celebrating the Vice President, describing him as a distinguished statesman and patriotic Nigerian.
Akande prayed for continued wisdom, sound health, renewed strength and many more years of impactful service to Nigeria and humanity.
He also wished the Vice President greater accomplishments, enduring legacies, peace and fulfilment in the years ahead.
“Happy 60th Birthday and Diamond Jubilee, Your Excellency,” he said.
