Imo Police Command gets new PPRO

Imo State Police Command has announced the arrival of a new Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Bala Elkana who takes over from the outgoing police spokesman, SP Godson Orlando Ikeokwu who has been redeployed to Ondo State Police Command.

In a release issued Tuesday by the command, has formally taking over office from his predecessor with a charge to ensure harmonious working relationship with the people of the state.

The release signed by SP Ikeokwu, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro, disclosed that SP Bala Elkana was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force in 2003 and holds a Bachelor Degree in Law (LLB), master degree in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution (MSC), Master Degree in Business Administration (MBA) among other academic qualifications.

According to the statement, the new imagemaker of the command attended several courses among which are Leadership Training, Detective Course, Community Policing, Trainee Course, Combat Operation Course, Emergency Management Course, Police Relations Course.

Ikeokwu further hinted that the new PPRO is a member of the National Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, and also a member of International Association of Chiefs of Police, A Fellow and Icon of Corporate Institute of Adminsitartion.

He added that SP Bala has served the force in different capacities especially PPRO in Niger, Akwa Ibom and Lagos State Police Commands, respectively and bagged several awards which includes; Best PRO in Nigeria 2020, Best PRO in Africa and Best PRO in Central and West Africa by Security Watch Africa.

Ikeokwu therefore thanked Imolites, police authorities and the media  for  their cooperation and support when the  rear opportunity of working with them arose.

Describing his successor as a wonderful person, Ikeokwu recalled that he had a good and rewarding experience working in the state and urged all to extend same support to the new PPRO
