Edo 2020: SWAN clears air on media accreditation

Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has cleared the air on the road map for media Accreditation ahead of the Edo 2020 National Sports Festival.
Vice President (North Central) of SWAN Danmusa Mohammed who is a member of the Edo 2020 MOC publicity sub committee in a statement today said the process is yet to start, even as he assured that the MOC would handle it soon.
The statement read in part: “My attention has been drawn to a statement credited to one Ahmed Aigbona, asking members of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) across the country to forward their details for accreditation to his private mailbox to enable them cover the forthcoming National Sports Festival (NSF) in Benin, Edo State.
For the records, the said Aigbona who is currently the chairman, Edo North Football Association (FA) and member, Edo State FA lacks the locus standi to act for and on behalf of SWAN that is effectively represented at the Main Organising Committee (MOC).
I want to assure the entire membership of the association that the MOC Publicity and Communication Sub-Committee of Edo 2020 NSF, headed by the Director of Press in the Federal Ministry of Sports, Blessing Lere-Adams; of which I am a member has not released processes for media accreditation.
Media accreditation shall be handled by the Main Organising Committee (MOC) through SWAN representative in the Committee as have been done in previous editions.
While assuring members that details of the processes would be made available as soon as they are ready, I implore you and other unsuspecting members of the public to discard any statement or call from the said Ahmed Aigbona whose aim might not be far from defrauding the Edo State government.”
