Enugu Agog as ECOL ’88 Holds AGM, 10th Anniversary Celebration
..Event attracts corporate endorsements

All is now set for the 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and 10th anniversary celebration of the 1988 Set of Emmanuel College Owerri Old Students Association, popularly known as ECOL ’88.
The twin events are scheduled to take place in Enugu from October 2 to 4, 2026, with members of the association at home and in the diaspora expressing readiness to make the occasion a memorable one.
A member of the AGM Planning Committee, Chief Ifeanyi Okafor, described the atmosphere among members as electrifying, saying there was considerable enthusiasm ahead of the event.
The Enugu State Chapter of ECOL ’88, which is hosting this year’s programme, has also assured members that every necessary arrangement has been concluded for what it described as a top-notch and “ideally unique” AGM and anniversary celebration.
In a novel development in the history of ECOL ’88, the 2026 AGM and 10th anniversary celebration have already attracted the endorsement of two corporate organisations in Nigeria.
The two companies, according to the organisers, have expressed their willingness to partner with the association, particularly in providing logistical support for the epoch-making events.
Speaking on the level of preparedness, the Chairman of the AGM Planning Committee, Chief Ubaferem Nwoha, said the committee was fully prepared for the gathering.
“We are fully ready for the events,” Nwoha said.
He also paid glowing tribute to the National Coordinator of ECOL ’88, Chief Emeka Ariguzo, Ph.D., for his leadership and efforts toward repositioning the association and ensuring that inclusive leadership remains central to its administration.
According to him, “Chief Ariguzo’s leadership sagacity, dexterity, inclusiveness and commitment to probity and accountability have rekindled members’ belief that ECOL ’88 is indeed unique. He is an exceptional team leader whose leadership idiosyncrasies are unparalleled.”
Nwoha added: “Enugu 2026 AGM and the celebration of our 10th year anniversary are in top gear. We are ready and set to host ECOL ’88 members worldwide. This year’s AGM will be truly unique.”
Also speaking, the Coordinator of the Owerri Chapter of ECOL ’88, Hon. Evans Anukam, said the AGM and 10th anniversary celebration would provide an opportunity to redefine the association’s priorities and reposition it toward serving the greater interests of its members.
Anukam expressed optimism that ECOL ’88 would continue to maintain its position as a pacesetter among the various sets of the Emmanuel College Owerri Old Students Association (ECOOSA).
He commended Ariguzo for galvanising members and restoring confidence in the leadership of the association.
“At a point, it appeared that we were drifting, but Ariguzo’s emergence as National Coordinator, with his supportive national executive officers, has now steadied our ship admirably and we are sailing seamlessly,” Anukam said.
He described the coincidence of the association’s 10th anniversary with the 2026 AGM as “divine,” assuring members that ECOL ’88 would continue to grow and expand its activities.
The 2026 AGM and anniversary celebration are expected to attract ECOL ’88 members from chapters across Nigeria and the diaspora, as well as friends and well-wishers of the association.
