NPBL: Hoops N’ Reads face must-win clash against City Chiefs

Captain of Hoops N’ Reads Basketball Club, Francis Anekwe, has assured fans and the Nigerian basketball community that the Lagos-based side will produce a much-improved performance in their Match Day 5 clash of the Final 8 Playoffs.

Anekwe, fondly known as “Mr. Reliable,” admitted that the team’s performances so far have fallen short of expectations, with Hoops N’ Reads still searching for their first victory of the playoffs.

The Lagos giants suffered their fourth consecutive defeat after a closely fought 66–60 loss to 313 Warriors, leaving them with a crucial battle ahead as they seek to keep their Final 8 campaign alive.

Despite the setbacks, Anekwe expressed confidence in his teammates, insisting that the squad has the quality and determination to turn things around in their next encounter against Koko.

“Hello, my people, it’s your boy, Francis Anekwe, captain of the team. We thank you for the support and the love you guys have shown to us,” he said.

“We know our last games have not been the best of basketball, but we hope and assure you that tomorrow’s game against Gboko City Chiefs will be a better one.”

With little room for error, the Match Day 5 encounter has taken on a do-or-die character for Hoops N’ Reads as they battle to salvage their Final 8 campaign.

Anekwe also commended club President Olumide Oyedeji (OLY) for his unwavering support, care and encouragement, describing his backing as a major source of motivation for the players as they prepare for the crucial showdown.
