Imo community stand still for Onwubualili, Okeke’s traditional wedding

The ancient, sleepy and peaceful Umuihe Elugwu Nkumeato Umuchienta Ihitte autonomous community in Ihitte Uboma local government area of Imo State was agog last Saturday as eminent personalities from all over the State and even beyond were in attendance as witnesses to the divinely driven traditional marriage rites of Lady Agnes Okeke and her age long hearthrob, Mr. Boniface Onwubualili.

Lady Agnes Okeke, is the daughter of late Ichie Okeke Obobo of Umuihe Elugwu Nkumeato Umuchienta Ihitte autonomous community in Ihitte Uboma LGA , while Mr. Boniface Onwubualili, is the son of late Ezinna Dennis Onwubualili of Umuodaa Amuzunweafor autonomous community in Aboh Mbaise LGA both of Imo State

The well attended and sumptuously entertained traditional marriage tagged Nkee Zuoke 2026,was held at the beautifully decorated Okeke’s ancestral stoney and hilly open family compound, Umuihe in Nkumeato Elugwu Umuchienta autonomous community Ihitte.

Responding, Mr. Boniface Onwubualili , the husband of the American trained medical practitioner was full of excitement and gratitude, even as he described the divinely driven traditional marriage as a dream that really came true.

Onwubualili expressed gratitude to God for being awesome in all the activities of the traditional marriage rites even as he described his beauty with brain wife, and her family as wonderful people with meek of human kindness and love of God.

He called the wife “my queen” informing that she always makes him proud and he will forever remain grateful to her, just as he vowed to love and cherish her till eternity.

The husband however demanded for sustained love, peace, loyalty, understanding and respect from each other noting these as the bedrocks of every successful marriage.

While soliciting for God’s abundant blessings and protection for the newly instituted marriage, Onwubualili passionately advised people to always repose their unflinching trust and confidence in God, in all their endeavours, assuring that there’s nothing on earth, God can not do at His own time and season.

Adding her voice, Lady Agnes Onwubualili nee Okeke, the newly married wife described the ceremony as excellent, peaceful and a special day, that will forever be evergreen in her life.

She informed that what attracted her most to her newly married husband is his sterling characteristics of simplicity, humane, discipline, calmness, his commitment to things of God and truth, as well as penchant in resolving disputes.

The New York based medical practitioner also expressed gratitude to God’s hands in all her endeavours and prayed for sustenance

Earlier, Mazi Nicholas Emeribe, aged 78 years and the head of the bride’s Obobo ancestral family, described the sister as a pride daughter of the community, “in terms of the fear of God and humanity, charity and philanthropy, highly industrious and discipline, respectful to elders and with good foundational home training.

Obobo-Emeribe expressed regrets that if it’s possible to ask her not to have gotten married, that they would have gladly asked her to do so, but as a woman, tradition and Christianity demands that she should leave her ancestral home, own her own home, build it with her husband and children.

The septuagenarian further pointed out that, apart from God Almighty, the bride has remained a pillar of help to members of the ancestral family, in terms of solving their needs and ensuring brotherly love and unity of purpose.

He prayed for God’s abundant blessings to be upon her and her new family and fervently advised the husband not to maltreat her no matter what nor institute domestic violence on her but to always employ dialogue in resolving any of their differences if at all.

The bride’s ancestral family head pointed out that, in case they couldn’t amicably resolve any issue concerning their well being that the husband is traditionally advised to approach them, so as to handle any matter concerning their marital engagement better, as they may not tolerate undue maltreatment of their beloved daughter.

Similarly, Obobo-Emeribe further said that, they would equally not accept their beloved daughter disrespecting her husband and if they got such report they’ll seriously caution her because marriage divorce or separation is traditionally unacceptable to the community and especially their family.

Chief Emmanuel Iheanacho-Anyanwu, a distant cousin of the bride from Umunohu Amakohia in Ihitte Uboma LGA of Imo State also described the bride as a humble person with meek of human kindness and generosity.

Iheanacho-Anyanwu popularly known as MC Onyeze reiterated the niece industriousness and being a marriage material blessings to the husband saying that the bride’s family background and up bringing are not questionable.

He also advised them on the need to have God in the forefront of their marriage activities while asking God for fruits of the womb and his grace upon their lives.

The MC Onyeze as he is popularly known and called further advised the bride on the need to always respect the husband and the husband to dearly love her.
