2026 FIFA W/ Cup qualifiers: SESC assures Finidi maximum support

The leadership of Super Eagles Supporters Club has commended the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for heeding to the voice of reasoning by appointing an indigenous coach to manage Super Eagles just as it expressed confidence in Finidi’s ability to make significant contributions to Nigeria football during his tenure as Head Coach of the Super Eagles.

This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Founder and National President of the club, Prince Vincent Okumagba following the unveiling of Finidi George by the NFF and the coach Hugo Broos of Bafana Bafana’s announcement of a 36-man preliminary squad for 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers match against Nigeria Super Eagles next month.

Okumagba extended his warmest congratulations to Finidi George on his appointment as Head Coach of the Super Eagles while reiterating the solid support and backing of the SESC to him stressing that his proven track record in football and dedication to the sport made him the perfect candidate to lead the Eagles to greater heights.

The statement further reads; the entire members and leadership of Super Eagles Supporters Club are confident in Finidi George’s abilities and are excited to see him take on this new role with the Super Eagles.
“His experience as an ex-international and seasoned coach will rub off positively on the team, having previously served as assistant to former Head Coach, Jose Peseiro prior to the Portuguese departure after the 2023 AFCON finals in Cote d’Ivoire.

“We’re re-strategizing our operations to ensure we’re always on ground at all important football events Nigeria is participating to support and help lift the morale of our players to victory at all times.
” And towards achieving our plans, we’ve also re- energized our chapters both home and Diaspora, to continue their selfless services to the national cause,” the statement noted.
