Imo State hoteliers get new interim management committee

Nigeria Hotel Association, (NHA), Imo State Chapter, has inaugurated a new interim management committee led by Chief Stanley Ohiri, to steer the affairs of the association before election of a substantive executive committee.

Addressing newsmen in Owerri, Wednesday,
Chairman of the interim committee disclosed that Mr. Sam Okoli was appointed as interim secretary with Mr. Ikenna Emeh, Mr. Tony Ukwuaku, Amara Egbuchulam, Chief Ifeanyi Igwe and Mr. Arinze Okeke as members.

The chairman explained that the leadership change was necessitated by the successful expiration of the tenure of the executive committee led by Acting Chairman, HRH Eze Josephat Nwosu.

His words, “On July 7, members of the Association convened to review, sign, and formally adopt a brand-new constitution aimed at steering the organization toward greater efficiency and progress.

“In alignment with the new constitutional framework, a seven member Interim Management Committee has now been appointed to oversee the affairs of the association.“ 

Ohiri further hinted that the interim committee on July 13 2026 paid a courtesy visit to the Imo State Commissioner for Tourism, Hon. Ernest Ibejiako, to brief him on the interim change of guard.

“During the visit, the newly adopted constitution and the Interim Management Committee were officially presented to Ibejiako, who reaffirmed his unwavering support and willingness to collaborate with the NHA to elevate the state’s hospitality and tourism sector to greater heights.

Commenting on the development, the National Consultant to the NHA and former Chairman of the association in the state, Mr. Chima Chukwunyere, congratulated the committee and urged them to abide by the rule of law in the discharge of their functions. 

Chukwunyere noted that the association remained one united body in the state, and warned against the activities of detractors.
