NBBF constitution review committee set to submit report

The ad-hoc Committee set up by the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), to take a look at it’s 2019 constitution and suggest areas of review has concluded it’s assignment.
Vice Chairman of the Committee, Dr Lanre Grover, told newstap.com that they will be submitting their report to the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), on Tuesday.
According to the seasoned sports administrator, the committee have carried out their assignment dutifully noting that it is now left with the Federation to make the report public even as he stated that Article 38 of NBBF statute clearly states that the ability to change any article in the statute resides solely in the NBBF Congress with 2/3 majority approval.
The trustee of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), explained that all the proposals sent to the Committee was given equal, thorough and careful consideration.
“We studied all the proposals and gave our opinion on each proposal which is non binding but can provide guidance to the basketball family.
Dr Glover, a former Vice President of Confederation of African Handball Federation (CAHF), stressed that in order for the NBBF board and it’s highest organ, the Congress to reach the right decision the ad-hoc Committee that was chaired by a Legal icon, retired Justice Ibrahim Ndahi Auta, made some suggestions on the way forward.
“We also made suggestions on some of the statues which again will be subjected to approval by the congress by 2/3 majority.”

The review and amendment committee which was set up in October last year, is headed by retired Legal Luminary and former Chief Justice of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Ndahi Auta.
Other members of the committee are; Mrs. Hauwa Kulu Akinyemi and Alhaji Honourable Abba Abdulquadir Kaka while Barrister Emmanuel Okibe served as the secretary.
